Back to the Movies Recap: 30-21

More than halfway through our journey, we finally venture into the top 20 films of 1983 and from this point on almost every single film on the list is an unequivocal blockbuster, movies that still stand out today as recognizable hits. The same cannot be said for a number of the movies we encountered in the ten movies that comprised numbers 30 through 21, a mish-mash of cheaply made sex comedies, star vehicles that never quite took off, and experiments gone wrong (and some gone right).

For those of you who’d like to check out any of these films: out of these ten films, only six of them are available on Netflix. Two of a Kind and Easy Money are available on DVD while Porky’s II: The Next Day is only available as part of a package DVD set with the original Porky’s. High Road to China has still yet to see its DVD release in America so I wish you the best of luck in tracking down a copy (don’t ask me how I found it). In addition to including links to my full reviews I’ve written for the blog, I’ve also included links to the 1983 reviews by Roger Ebert (when available) and the film critics of the New York Times. I’ve also handed out some awards and superlatives for this group of ten at the end of the list. You can also find a link to my previous two recap pieces below:
