  • This film marks Woody Allen's fourth consecutive film to be shot entirely outside of the United States with principle photography taking place in the Spanish cities of Barcelona, Oviedo and Aviles.

  • 10 percent of the film was financed by the local governments of Barcelona and Catalan.

  • This film marks the first collaboration between Allen and cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe. It also marks Aguirresarobe's third English language feature film after The Others (2001) and Goya's Ghosts (2006).

  • Vicky Cristina Barcelona is the tenth collaboration between Allen and editor Alisa Lepselter, who has cut every Allen film since Sweet and Lowdown (1999).
